The Detroit Pistons were not in their A-game and had a tough night on Thursday, struggling against the Charlotte Hornets. Charlotte built a 20-point lead and maintained control throughout. The Pistons couldn't keep up and ended up losing the game. To make matters worse, Cade Cunningham suffered an injury and left before the game ended, leaving fans worried and hoping for his speedy recovery.

Cade Cunningham injured before Pistons' defeat

The Pistons struggled throughout the game against the Charlotte Hornets, with Charlotte leading by as much as 20 points. However, Detroit attempted a strong comeback, thriving up from a 93-79 deficit as they entered the fourth quarter to tie the game and force overtime.
Unfortunately, during this comeback effort, the Pistons lost starting guard Cade Cunningham to a left hip issue. The team confirmed the injury as a setback, ultimately ruling Cunningham out for overtime as they battled the Hornets.

Cunningham played 36 minutes but struggled with his shooting, hitting just nine of 26 attempts, including two of nine from three-point range. He was strong at the free-throw line, making seven of eight. Heading into overtime, Cunningham led the Pistons with 27 points. In addition to his scoring, he recorded a double-double with ten assists and nearly added a triple-double, grabbing seven rebounds.
Cunningham’s injury has sparked discussion among fans as he was doing well in the season before his injury. The extent of his injury is not known as of writing this piece. Additionally, it is also hard to say when the star will make his return to the court. Regardless, sidelining the 23-year-old could be a huge deficit on the team as he has been one of the key players in the Pistons’ 7-10 season so far.

Last season, Cunningham averaged 23 points, eight assists, and four rebounds, while shooting 36% from three. Before Thursday's game against the Hornets, he was averaging 23 points with a 37% shooting rate from beyond the arc. Cunningham was also recording a career-high nine assists per game and pulling down a career-best seven rebounds.

The Pistons will face Orlando Magic on November 24, Sunday and then on November 26, they will fight Toronto Raptors on the court. It is fair to assume that Cunningham will be absent from at least a few games.
