5 things GTA 5 Enhanced should’ve fixed by 2025 but didn’t

Grand Theft Auto Five Enhanced has been around for a while. However, it still lacks key features. Crossplay between platforms is absent. Non-player character intelligence needs improvement. Environmental destruction is limited. Many buildings lack interactive interiors. The police system remains basic. These shortcomings persist despite the game's age and popularity. Fans expected more from this enhanced version.

GTA 5 has been around for more than a decade. And while Rockstar’s “Enhanced” version breathed some new life into the classic, fans expected more, a lot more. But let’s be real. For a game that’s crossed three console generations and still rakes in millions, there are some glaring things it still doesn’t do.
Here are 5 things GTA 5 Enhanced still doesn’t offer, even after all these years — and yes, we’re all wondering why.

1. Crossplay Still MIA

We’re in the golden age of cross-platform gaming, and yet GTA 5 still hasn’t joined the party. Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players are still stuck in their own bubbles. In 2025, this feels like a missed opportunity the size of Los Santos itself. With GTA Online thriving, crossplay could’ve taken the chaos to a whole new level—but nope, we’re still divided by platforms.

2. Proper NPC Intelligence

We’ve got 4K textures and ray tracing, but somehow the NPCs still can’t cross the street without getting flattened. Pedestrians react like they’re in a cartoon, and enemies charge at you like they’ve never seen cover. It’s 2025 — smarter AI should be a no-brainer.

3. More Destructible Environments

We’re in 2025, and shooting a rocket launcher at a building should do something more than leave a scorch mark. While other games let you blow up walls, collapse buildings, or reshape the environment, GTA 5 still sticks to static backdrops. You can level up chaos, but the world doesn’t react the way it should. It's still more Hollywood set than sandbox.

4. Interactive Interiors for More Buildings

Sure, GTA 5’s map is massive. But most of it? Window dressing. Enterable buildings are still shockingly limited. In a game where you can fly fighter jets and run a criminal empire, it’s wild that you can’t even walk into a basic office or diner. Immersion takes a hit when 90% of doors are just painted on.

5. A Truly Dynamic Police System

The police system is stuck in the past. Still based on a five-star scale, cops magically know your location even if you ditch the car and hide in the hills. There’s no real investigation, no witness system, no escalation based on crimes. It’s rinse and repeat. We’ve had more realistic law enforcement mechanics in open-world games years ago.
GTA 5 Enhanced may have better lighting, faster loading, and shinier reflections — but it’s still stuck in the past where it really counts. We’re grateful it’s aged this well, but after three console generations, the cracks are starting to show.
