Pokémon GO is finally giving fans what they’ve been waiting for—Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta are making their debut at Pokémon GO Fest 2025. If you thought their base forms were strong, wait till you see these two in full power mode. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Legends Return, Upgraded

Zacian and Zamazenta have been in Pokémon GO since 2021, but only in their Hero of Many Battles forms. That changes now.

Zacian (normally Fairy-type) becomes a Fairy/Steel-type in its Crowned Sword form.
Zamazenta (normally Fighting-type) transforms into a Fighting/Steel-type as Crowned Shield.

These dual-typed monsters are no joke. Their new forms come with stat boosts, exclusive moves, and visual upgrades that’ll make any Trainer’s team look elite.

How to Unlock Crowned Sword and Shield Forms in Pokemon GO?

Changing forms isn’t just a one-click feature. You’ll need a few specific things to pull it off:

Iron Head as a charged move on Zacian or Zamazenta
30 Candy (per Pokémon)
1,000 Crowned Energy (either Sword or Shield, depending on the Pokémon)

Where to Get Crowned Energy in Pokemon GO?

You can collect Crowned Energy in two main ways:

Five-Star Raids featuring Zacian and Zamazenta during GO Fest
Ticketed Special Research Tasks during the Global event in late June

If you're attending GO Fest in Paris, Jersey City, or Osaka, you’ll even get early access to the Energy. Once you transform them once, you won’t need more energy to switch between forms in the future. Nice touch!

Exclusive Moves: Behemoth Blade and Bash

When Zacian becomes Crowned Sword, it automatically learns Behemoth Blade. Crowned Shield Zamazenta picks up Behemoth Bash. Both moves are absolute powerhouses, designed for Max Battles (which these forms can participate in). While they can’t Dynamax or Gigantamax, they can still upgrade charged attacks and unlock additional combat abilities. Pokémon GO Fest 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting events yet.
