The 70th National Film Awards was held at the Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi on Tuesday. The most notable figures in Indian cinema were recognized for their achievements at the esteemed occasion. Amidst the various celebrities that earned the honor was actor Yami Gautam’s father, Mukesh Gautam. The actor shared a message for her father on social media and expressed her happiness.
Yami Gautam, who was sitting at home watching her father on television, posted photos of him at the National Film Awards on Instagram. For his film ‘Baghi Di Dhee’, Mukesh Gautam took home the Best Punjabi Feature Film trophy. The actor offered a heartfelt message and expressed how proud she is of her father's accomplishments.
Along with the post, Yami wrote, “Very emotional moment as my father, Shri Mukesh Gautam, received his first National Award, as a director, for his film – ‘Baghi Di Dhee’. Emotions cannot be poured into words. I am such a proud daughter. My father’s journey till here has been one of the hardest journeys I have seen & yet couldn’t deter him from his consistent passion for work & immense honesty in ethics. Your family is proud of you, papa. A special mention to @rabindra.narayan & @jasrajsinghbhatti for being a fantastic team.”
In an earlier interview with The Times Of India, Mukesh talked candidly about his first-ever National Award win, his limited resources, and how he overcame financial restrictions to complete the film. President Droupadi Murmu presented awards to celebrities including Mithun Chakraborty, Manasi Parekh, Rishab Shetty, Sathish Krishnan, and Pritam during the 70th National Film Awards.
Stars such as Karan Johar, Neena Gupta, AR Rahman, Nithya Menen, Sooraj Barjatya and Ayan Mukerji also took home the prestigious awards
