Rajinikanth says he was 'dumbfounded' about Fahadh Faasil's role in 'Vettaiyan': 'He is just beyond words'

Rajinikanth's starrer ‘Vettaiyan’ is one of the most awaited movies this year, boasting an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and others in key roles.

Ahead of its release on October 10, the megastar shared some thrilling facts about his co-star Fahadh Faasil during the preview event of the movie.

Fahadh is expected to play a comical role in this film, and Rajinikanth said, “There’s an extraordinary character in the film that was played by Fahadh Faasil. When they told me about this character, I was dumbfounded at who they’d cast for this role. The director then said, ‘We don’t have to go around and ask every artist; we should only cast Fahadh Faasil for this role.’

According to Pinkvilla, Rajinikanth expressed his admiration for Fahadh, noting his surprise at the versatility of his performances. He shared that, despite having seen only two of Faasil's Tamil films—‘Vikram’ and ‘Maamannan’—in which he portrayed serious, villainous characters, Rajinikanth was deeply impressed by Faasil's talent. He praised him as a remarkable artist, stating that he has never encountered a natural performer like him. “What an artist he is! I haven’t seen a natural artist like him in my entire life. He is just beyond words,” the superstar added.

‘Vettaiyan’, directed by TJ Gnanavel, features the superstar in the role of an IPS officer. Fahadh Faasil will be playing the character Patrick. The film marks the reunion of Big B and the superstar after 33 years. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director of the movie, working with Rajinikanth after the success of ‘Jailer’.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will next be seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Coolie’. The film also features Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and many more in key roles.
