‘Lovely’ teaser: When a fly becomes the heroine! Mathew Thomas starrer sparks curiosity

The Mollywood film industry is all set to try an SS Rajamouli’s ‘Eega’ style film with the upcoming movie ‘Lovely’ starring Mathew Thomas in the lead.


The upcoming 3D hybrid film set to hit theaters on April 4 is directed by Dileesh Karunakaran and stars Mathew Thomas in the lead role. The most unique aspect of the film is that its heroine is a fly.


Mathew Thomas took to his Instagram handle to share the teaser for the film. His note read, “Lovely is here to steal your heart. Get ready for an adventure like no other—Teaser Out Now!.”

The teaser for ‘Lovely’ shows an interesting bond between Mathew Thomas’ character and the fly. Targeting children, especially during the summer vacation, ‘Lovely’ combines live-action with an animated lead character, making it a rare hybrid film in Malayalam cinema. Similar to how mainstream Hollywood actors lend their voices to animated characters, the teaser hints that a prominent Malayalam actor has provided the voice for the animated fly, the film’s female lead.

This is Dileesh Karunakaran’s directorial venture after the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer ‘Tamar Padar’, for which he has also written the script. The film’s cinematography is handled by renowned director Aashiq Abu, while Vishnu Vijay has composed the music. Editing is done by Kiran Das. With its innovative concept and exciting teaser, Lovely is set to offer a fresh cinematic experience for audiences.

The film’s first-look poster, which was unveiled by the makers recently, had already gone viral. Apart from Mathew Thomas, Lovely features Manoj K. Jayan, K.P.A.C. Leela, and others in key roles.

On the other hand, Mathew Thomas’ previous outing was the comedy entertainer film ‘Bromance’ which received good reviews from the audiences and is still running in theatres.
