Amravati airport welcomes first trial flight
Amravati: The city witnessed history today as its airport welcomed its first-ever trial flight by an ATR-72, marking a milestone in Maharashtra's aviation landscape. For the first time, the aircraft that will soon carry passengers landed successfully, paving the way for regional air travel.
Following the trail flight, the actual commercial operations are expected to start from the second week of April, said sources. The Amravati Airport would be starting off with a flight to Mumbai by Alliance Air, even though the first trial flight to land was from Indore, said sources.
As part of the agreement with Alliance Air, this special trial flight from Indore to Amravati was a testament to the airport's readiness for commercial operations under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN. At exactly 15.56 hours on Sunday, the aircraft made a flawless touchdown at Amravati Airport, demonstrating seamless coordination of state-of-the-art infrastructure, navigation systems, and ground handling facilities. After a swift turnaround, the flight departed for Indore at 16.17 hours, completing this critical milestone in the airport's journey to full-fledged operations.
With a grand inauguration on the horizon, Amravati Airport is set to become a game-changer for the region, boosting economic growth, trade, tourism, and connectivity like never before. It has been developed by Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC).
MADC vice chairman & managing director Swati Pandey said, "Under the dynamic leadership of our chairman, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, MADC has once again turned dreams into reality. This milestone is a shining example of our unwavering commitment to excellence in aviation infrastructure and a bold step towards revolutionizing regional air travel in Maharashtra. The successful trial flight is more than just a landing — it's the beginning of a new era of connectivity, growth, and limitless possibilities for Amravati and beyond."
This successful trial flight is just the beginning, said MADC. The airport will solidify Amravati's place in India's aviation network, bringing seamless air connectivity to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like never before.
"The sky is not the limit; it's just the beginning! Stay tuned as we count down to the grand inauguration and witness the dawn of a new era in Maharashtra's regional connectivity!, " said Pandey
